The Sarnath Museum, established in 1910 near Varanasi, is regarded as the oldest site museum in India and is managed by the Archaeological Survey of India. It preserves material recovered from the sacred site where the Buddha delivered his first sermon following enlightenment. Its holdings include more than six thousand artefacts, among them the renowned Lion Capital of Ashoka, which serves as the national emblem of India. Watching the master craftsmen meticulously interweave fine silk with shimmering zari threads was nothing short of poetry in motion. Established in 1910 during british period, is a must visit place in Sarnath. It comprises of 5 galleries and 2 verandah ans a beautiful lawn at the front. Gallery of fully AC. it has various statues and idols related to Budha and other Hindu deity Of ancient period( 3-12 century BC).
